Taking the GRE and IELTS to Study Data Science Abroad

Preparing for and sitting the GRE and IELTS as entry requirements for a data science master's programme, alongside full-time freelance work.

Verbal Reasoning with your scaled score of 150 for a minimum score of 130 and for a maximum score of 170 which is the 44th percentile.

Quantitative Reasoning with your scaled score of 161 for a minimum score of 130 and for a maximum score of 170 which is the 74th percentile.

Analytical Writing with your scaled score of 3.0 and a minimum score of 0 and a maximum score of 6 which is the 13th percentile.

What exams do you need for a data science master's abroad?

Most international programmes require the GRE (general aptitude, with a quantitative section) and a proof of English proficiency such as IELTS or TOEFL. Specific score requirements vary by school and programme.

Is GRE preparation useful beyond admissions?

The quantitative section covers algebra, geometry, probability and data interpretation — the same foundations that machine learning is built on. Preparing for it doubles as a structured revision of the maths a data scientist uses.
